About Spinosaurus

Spinosaurus back has obvious long spine, is by the spinal bone of the nerve spine extension, the height of 1.65 meters, between the long spine inferred that there was a skin connection, forming a huge sail. The sail's functions are likely to include regulating body temperature, storing fat energy, distributing heat, attracting mates, threatening rivals and attracting prey.

Spinosaurs, whose skull was 1.75 meters long and shaped like pliosaurs, were considered semi-aquatic. A study of the oxygen isotope composition of the teeth of the echinosaur family suggests that echinosaurus was the only known carnivorous dinosaur that could swim.

Spinosaurs are famous for their distinctive sails and huge size. Most of what we know about spinosaurus comes from relatively complete fossils destroyed during world war ii and from the teeth, skulls, back sails, arms, claws and toes found today. Until now, fossils of skulls, cervical vertebrae, back sails, claws and toes have been preserved in museums and scientific institutions. The tail and torso were destroyed during world war ii. The upper jaw, discovered in 2005, shows that spinosaurus had a skull about 1.8 meters long. Spinosaurus had a narrow snout with straight, round, conical teeth that lacked serrated edges, similar to those of other spinosaurs. Crown length can be up to 12.5 cm.

Spinosaurs' sails are made up of very tall nerve spines that extend from the backbone of the vertebrae at the back. These spines are about seven to 11 times longer than the vertebrae. The length of these nerve spines was consistent, while the length of the nerve spines of diplodontids and diplodontids were greatly different, forming a half-moon shaped sail. Iguanodon, which lived at the same time and place as spinosaurus, also had tall sails on its back and thicker nerve spines at the ends.

Cretaceous Predator

The spinosaurus lived about 114 million years ago -65 million years ago. In the mid-Cretaceous period, the coastal areas of northern Africa have already become part of the Sahara desert in the 21st century. However, at that time, it was still a large ridge of the estuary with abundant vegetation and sufficient food. It shared the same land with the spinosaurus, and there were many large and medium-sized carnivorous dinosaurs such as the shark-toothed dragon. However, they were rarely semi-aquatic dinosaurs due to the spinosaurus. The dragon rushed to eat.

The body structure of the spinosaurus, especially the skull and teeth, also shows that they are very adapted to fishing life. Their upper and lower jaws are long and narrow, and they can be tightly fitted to make it easy to hold the body slippery.
